FIRST EPISODE · 14 JANUARY 2022

One of the pandemic’s better side effects.

The “Genoani si resta” podcast was born after the pandemic from an idea by Stefano Gaggero, immediately embraced by Matteo Cevasco and Francesco Talarico. Since its first episode, every week has brought the story of another Genoano living abroad.

Then came the WhatsApp chat, where Genoa — and much more — is discussed practically around the clock, and the Genoa Club “Genoani si resta”, whose banner is displayed at the Luigi Ferraris stadium for every Grifone home match.

THE THREE VOICES

The same faith. Three very different ways to tell it.

Stefano Gaggero “Gagge”1970

THE IDEA · U VEGIU

Stefano GaggeroGagge

Charlotte · North Carolina

Born in 1970 in Bolzaneto — although his wife has explained that it is not quite Genoa — he is the group’s “u vegiu”. Certainly not the wisest, but definitely the one with grey hair.

A lifelong enthusiast of referees and the Italian national team, he moved to North Carolina in 2013: the Bolzaneto of the East Coast. He lives in Charlotte, where apparently there is even another Genoano.

Matteo Cevasco “Ceva”1974

THE VOICE · UNFILTERED

Matteo CevascoCeva

New Jersey · United States

Born in 1974, Genoese and a Genoano for 102 generations, he is the podcast’s voice — rigorously unfiltered.

Distinguishing feature: he hates everyone, including a few Genoani. Those who know him well insist that he barks a great deal but does not bite. He moved to the United States in 2004, first to New York and now New Jersey, where in his spare time he serves as Costco’s unofficial brand ambassador.

Francesco Talarico “Talla”1981

THE YOUNG · SOUL

Francesco TalaricoTalla

Miami · Florida

Born in 1981, Genoese and raised in Recco on kilos of focaccia al formaggio, he is the podcast’s “young” soul.

Whenever he joins, nobody knows which usually unwatchable football shirt he will be wearing. He moved to the United States in 2012, lives in Miami, and is the founder and president of Genoa Club Miami.

THE PODCAST

Rossoblù stories without borders.

Every episode begins in a different city and always returns to the same place: Genoa, the Grifone, and the feeling of home shared by those who live far away.
